2011 Nissan Murano, 85000 miles, all maintenance done on time. Driving down the road at low speeds started to hear a clunking noise. The next day I was driving down the hwy taking my car into the shop when it started jumping rpms and would not accelerate almost causing me to get killed while trying to pull of the road. After letting the car sit I was able to drive it at 30mph to the closest car dealership where it was diagnosed with a failing transmission. I still owe on the car and am beyond upset that after calling Nissan they refuse to do anything . Now my car sits till I find a way to come up with the thousands of dollars I have to pay to get my car back on the road. Nissan should extend the warranty on the 2011 just like they did on the previous years.

Cvt transmission started making noises at 90k on daughter s 2011 Nissan Murano. This should be a recall Nissan is scamming everyone with all these 5k shop repair bills. Nissan ya can go to hell and will never buy another one. I will also go trade my gtr. I would drive chevy cruz or civic before I buy another Nissan. Oh this was our 29th Nissan between my wife,kids and I.

Cvt transmission. Vehicle decelerates and accelerates without warning (check engine light is on). Mainly at stop lights. It is slow to start. When trying to accelerate, vehicle stalls, jumps, or slips with rpm accelerating above 4 rpmx1000, while speed remains at 10 mph for 2-3 minutes. Loud humming noise when vehicle is trying to accelerate. Vehicle makes no noise in the morning. Symptoms worsen when vehicle or outside temperature is hot (e. G. Above 85 f). Cannot drive above 45 mph or on highway. Vehicle is only 4 years old with 112k miles. Has been serviced on-time by dealer. Vehicle is unsafe to drive, especially when crossing intersections.

I have pulled into traffic only to have my car not accelerate causing the car behind me to slam on their brakes. Today, the car behind me had to pull over into the shoulder to avoid hitting me. Over the past several years, I've taken my car into Nissan service complaining about a rumbling noise/feeling, the car intermittently fails to and/or hesitates when accelerating. The cause of these symptoms were never diagnosed properly. Now the symptoms occur more frequently. The loss of speed and/or the ability of not gaining speed along with the normal flow of traffic could cause somebody to hit and/or kill me! this is very dangerous, today I was lucky by not getting hit. A few weeks ago, because the symptoms happens more consistently Nissan diagnosed the problem as a transmission (cvt) issue. Although they have admitted a defect in their cvt transmissions, they refused to repair it because it's out of warranty. I have records which shows I took my car to several different Nissan service depts. Complaining about this issue when the transmission was under warranty. This is a major safety issue, just doing a quick google search, I discovered Nissan's cvt has allegedly been blamed for a couple of deaths and multiple car accidents. It's a hazard to drive my vehicle, and Nissan should recall and replace all of these transmissions. As I said previously, today I was lucky, the next time I may not be! attached: unfortunately after my near miss incident this morning the other driver kept going so I don't have any documentation to provide. But I did attached an ongoing email thread I have with Nissan consumer affairs which basically captures the communication I've had with them up until this point. The only thing missing is on July 5, 2017 I received a call from wade (Nissan consumer affairs) stating they still are not going to replace the transmission.

I have owned two Nissan vehicles. The first Nissan I owned was an 08 altima that had a transmission issue at 25,000 miles. My current Nissan is an 09 Murano. This vehicles transmission started to make noise at 116,000 miles. At the time I brought it into a shop and was told that Nissan has a lot of transmission issues. Because I was told that my warranty was 60,000 miles, I did not bring my vehicle to Nissan. After a few months we decided to look up if there were any recalls. My husband found on the Nissan site that due to issues they had with the cvt transmission they extended their warranty from 60,000 miles to 120,000 miles. We were never notified of this. I immediately brought my car into Nissan and had them look at it. They said my transmission was bad and never mentioned the warranty. I called Nissan of north America's customer service and had my case reviewed. They advised me that there wasn't a recall but only a warranty extension. They offered to pay 50% since I was now at 123,000 miles. I let them know I had documentation showing I had the issue prior but they have not done anything further.

Transmission housing is cracked. Vehicle made loud noises and shuddering. Several similar complaints on the internet.

I was driving down hwy 100 in milwaukee at approximately 40 mph when the car suddenly died in the middle of the road, fortunately no accident was caused because of the sudden stop. The car would not start after this stop. I pushed the car into a nearby parking lot and took the battery into a local hardware store. The battery was dead and needed to be charged. I re installed the battery and got the car started (the engine sounded loud) and drove to the auto store and had the alternator tested - it was dead. I started to drive the car home and it would not go above 30 mph and the cel was on. The next morning I had the alternator replaced (Sunday), the battery kept it's charge. I took the vehicle to the Nissan dealer on Monday morning - they determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. I got my car back after 2 weeks and drove it home. I did notice that the there was a slight whine - I thought it was with the replaced transmission. I got louder each dayand I took it back to the Nissan dealer, but the noise would quit after it warmed up. The Nissan dealer determined that it was the high pressure power steering hose. These events appeared to be caused by a previous event - (1) alternator (2) transmission (3) high pressure power steering hose, all started November 27 2014, and lastly ended on February 10, 2015, hopefully.

Loud banging noise, louder as I increase speed, new transmission 3/2013.

We were driving home (my daughter was driving) about 45mph, and the car made a whinning noise then the rpms were going up and down, then when she pushed on the gas the car did not accelerate. Got the car home and my husband said he would look at it. Every time we start the vehicle makes a horrible whinning noise. We were going to have it towed to get it checked out and in the matter of a few days a squirrel had gotten under the hood and ate the main wire casing. So we had it towed to woodmen Nissan in colorado springs since we couldn't do anything until that was fixed because the car had no wiring. That was 9-21-2013. We got a call from woodmen niss that the part was on back order and would be awhile, well 12-21-2013 we finally get a call that the car is done and we could come get it. While we are waiting for a car, I googled transmission problems with 2003 niss Muranos and found the ext the warranty to 10yrs or 120k, well we are under the mileage but 1 1/2 months over time. We purchased from our brother in law who was the original owner. He and well as us, took very good care of the vehicle it was well maintained. Niss said there is nothing they can do since it is over the 10 yrs. I looked back at the records and the vehicle was taken in on several occasions for leaking transmission. . . I too believe Nissan should be responsible for a new transmission as it was a bad transmission and they knew it was bad. They are not willing to do anything.

While driving on a major freeway I began to hear my cvt transmission making a loud winding noise that sounded like a turbine engine revving up and then my engine light came on. After I noticed something was wrong, the vehicle went from 65mph to 15mph during extremely heavy high speed traffic and then I was not able to accelerate which brought the vehicle to a complete stop on the freeway. The vehicle constantly does a bunny hop in heavy stop and go traffic which almost caused me to rear end another car because of the sudden surge of acceleration. This has been an ongoing issue since I purchased the car and is now becoming a serious safety issue.

At a speed of 40 mph the transmission started to make a terrible ticking noise and vibrated through the cabin of the vehicle. I have ruled out the possibility of c. V. Joints as I ran the vehicle while being safely supported on a lift. The noise is echoing out of the cvt housing, all fluid levels are up.

Our 2004 Nissan Murano broke down about 4 weeks ago on the freeway. There were loud grinding noises, and would not accelerate over 40 mph. It was towed to the nearest Nissan dealer, and is still there over three weeks later. The dealer says it is the transmission, and that a new transmission has been ordered, but is on back order. We have contacted the Nissan dealer where we bought the vehicle, and they so far have not taken any responsibility. It is supposed to be covered by warranty, but have been reading about all the other Nissan Murano owners with the same transmission problem. Our Nissan has 64,000 plus miles on it.

I was out completing last minute christmas shopping when my car starting making a loud clicking noise then stopped in the middle of traffic. The car would not go forward nor in reverse. I called my insurance company which had it towed to Nissan which informed me I would need a new cvt, which irritates me more because I had just gotten my car serviced on 18 December 09 and everything was suppose to be good to go. I feel completely helpless because the car at most is worth only 8 to 9,000. By the looks of all the complaints a new transmission is going to run me 3-5,000. I ensured I serviced my Murano only by Nissan at times prescribed and I'm forced to shell out more money on a $32,000 vehicle.

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano that not running due to the transmission. I took mt vehicle to the Nissan dealership several times complaining about noise, acceleration on the gas pedal out of the blue, speed decreasing while driving on hwy at 70mph, to 10 or less mph. I've spent about $3000 on a calculator conversion and exhaust system, that I might not even needed. I had to have my truck towed to the Nissan dealership that has been servicing my truck. They said my transmission was out of warranty. My transmission was under warranty when the problem began last year, but the dealership p tech choose to word the problems a different way not to reflect transmission issue. Dealership nor Nissan want to assist to fix my truck. I have about 152,000k on my truck now, but I had way less when problems began. I need assistance to get truck fix, I'm sill paying the $9000. I owe in it. Nissan is not stepping up to the plate when they knew there were transmission issues in the Murano truck. I'm very unhappy, discussed, sad that I'm trapped in a truck that's not safe.

During the past 12 months, 2003 Murano was taken to several Nissan dealers for noise emitting from wheel or transmission's was told that this was a tire rod problem, which was replaced. The problem continued and was told that it was a strut problem. Next, it was in need of tires. Finally, after the warranty has expired, it's the transmission. This problem will now cost over $5000 to fix.

I have a 2003 Nissan Murano. It's been a great car since I purchased it new. I have recently heard a whining noise. The dealership and another source tell me I need a new transmission for about $5000. The car has 68k miles. The dealership told me it will just die one of these days. My fear is where will I be or what will I be doing when that happens. Nissan just says, 'too bad' its out of warranty.

Squealing noise coming from car, took in and paid $100+ for Nissan to diagnose the problem as internal transmission failure. Car had 66,000 miles on it which was 6,000 miles over warranty. Nissan would not cover to replace or fix the transmission. Was told cost to replace transmission would be $4,500. 00. This happened in may did not get a response from Nissan until July.

2013 Nissan Murano Transmission

I brought my Nissan into the dealer the beginning of April 2008 because the 'service engine soon' light was on. . . And I was told my car's computer needed to 're-learn' something. That cost me $100. Then, about two weeks later, I was on the interstate, my engine started making a straining noise, and I began to lose power. Of course, my 'service engine soon' light popped on. No matter how hard I pressed the gas pedal, my car would not speed up. . . And the rpm seemed to be stuck on 4,000. My speed steadily decreased, and I had to finally stop my car in the breakdown lane. I left it sit for about 15 minutes, restarted it, and it miraculously fixed itself. I made it off the interstate, but it eventually started acting up again. I pulled into a parking lot and let it sit for about 2 hours. That was long enough for it to fix itself again and make it to the Nissan dealer. It didn't give me any trouble on the way to the dealer, so I was completely shocked when they told me that I needed a new transmission!!! that absolutely never even occurred to me that something that major could be wrong! my Murano has just over 70,000 miles on it. . . . Unbelievable! it ended up sitting at the dealer for more than a week because they had to order the transmission. The total cost would've been $5,700, but my extended warranty covered it. That's a big relief, but now I've lost faith in my Murano. I've had minor problems before, and it even completely died on me and had to be towed (I guess I need to lookup that problem and report it too). . . But I just thought 'these things happen no matter how new a car is. ' it is comforting to know that so many other people have had the same problem. . . Thanks to this website. Nissan really needs to do something. Firefox 83. This is a huge mistake on their part, and to keep bragging about how awesome their Nissan transmissions are. . . Is very wrong. Nissan needs to stand behind their product.

Nissan Murano Transmission 2006

Brought my 2004 Nissan Murano in for alternator replacement due to factory recall on all 2003-2004 Muranos. 3 days later I began to hear some very loud banging noises from the engine area. The Murano was towed to Nissan that weekend and on Monday I was told that it was my transmission. Apparently there was regular transmission fluid added to the cvt transmission. The mastria Nissan service center will not take responsibility and they will not honor the drive train warranty.

2003 Nissan Murano awd would accelerate and skip gears. If you are in stop and go traffic and you take your foot off the gas the car will lunge forward and try to go into a higher gear then first. This started happening intermittently then it happened several times in one day the Friday before memorial day 2006. On Saturday when we started the car it made a horrible clunking noise. We drove the car to the dealer and several days later we were told we would need a brand new transmission at a cost of $4000. The car has 78,000 miles and is 32 months old. All the miles are highway miles. We do not have an extended warranty because we have always owned Nissan cars and never had a problem. I have conducted research and found several consumers have experienced the transmission problems at various life cycles of the vehicle. Some had problems with in the first thousand miles. It is suspected that the problems are caused by the new cvt technology that Nissan first introduced in the Nissan Murano in 2003. I think this is a serious problem.

Transmission failure:starting as a clicking sound from the front, only noticeble when driving slowly and with open window and occuring when accelerating or decelerating and during light turns the dealer first misdiagnosed it as loose steering rack mounting bolts, referring to Nissan bulletin ntbb03-065a. After fixing this, the clicking noise still was there and the technician finally diagnosed clicking noise in the cvt/ automatic transmission case. Dealer acknoledges that transmission has to be replaced and schedules repair timeframe with 1 week. Dealer will notify when parts have arrived.
